For Christmas Rob bought me a 6-month account with Ancestry.com. I’m in heaven. For months now I’ve been chasing down everyone I could find on my Mom and my Dad’s Family Trees.
At times I’ve enlisted the help of specialized Facebook Groups when I was stuck or simply had questions. They are some of the smartest, kindest, tenacious people I’ve ever met. They’ve held my hand trekking through Germany, Italy and even here in the United States of America. I wouldn’t have made nearly the progress I have without them.
It was all a giant puzzle to me, one I couldn’t wait to put back together. Who was married to whom, when? I’ve found people I’m related to through Ancestry.com that I would have never known.
It’s been a source of comfort for me. This is my family. They love me and I love them, unconditionally. There isn’t a single drop of blood shared between us and I don’t care. To quote one of my favorite songs by Rodney Adkins,
“These are my people, this is where I come from.”
